The 2026 edition of the International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI 2026) will be held in Venice, Italy, from June 8 to June 12, continuing a long tradition of bringing together leading researchers and practitioners in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and visual interfaces.
Since its first edition in 1992, AVI has been a key venue for exploring how people interact with digital technologies through visual and multimodal interfaces. Although AVI is an international conference—welcoming participants, authors, and organizers from around the world—it has always been hosted in Italy. This enduring tradition combines a rich and diverse research program with thoughtfully curated cultural and social events, reflecting a distinctive spirit of hospitality and conviviality.
In 2026, Venice’s delicate and unique ecosystem will provide an inspiring setting to reflect on, reframe, and imagine creative paths toward more sustainable technological futures. The conference will offer a stimulating forum for exchanging ideas and discussing new technological results, paradigms, and visions for HCI and visual interfaces. Researchers, developers, and practitioners will share insights into how these technologies can enhance usability, accessibility, inclusivity, and creativity.
This edition will place particular emphasis on creativity, inviting contributions that explore how generative AI both expands and challenges human creative processes.
Topics of interest include novel interaction paradigms and modalities, interaction spaces, human–system interaction, people, groups and societies, values and moral principles, and applications.
